The number of technical people employed in medical device fields is rising as opportunities are expanding in the areas of research and the medical industry. As of May 2006 there are about 1,500 trained workers ready to staff your operations.

Graduates

From 2001 – 2006 the number of students in medical device fields graduating from South Dakota’s public universities totaled more than 2,000. That’s 2,000 highly educated and specialized professionals ready to staff your operations.

In 2006, South Dakota’s public universities graduated 367 students from academic programs that feed the medical device industry’s workforce. Of those 367 degrees awarded:

  • 267 were Bachelor's Degrees
  • 95 were Master's Degrees
  • 5 were Doctorates

The following five public universities are educating future medical device manufacturing professionals:

South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (SDSM&T) … Rapid City, SD
