Location Key, Business Climate Solid

Midstates Printing finds South Dakota Beneficial

While many changes have taken place in the printing industry in the last couple decades, one thing has remained the same: Customer service is the key.

“We have people that are committed to the job, and people that are committed to what we tell our customers,” said Dave Burgard, general manager. “A lot of our work comes from referrals, so our employees always work hard to follow through on what we promise.”

Burgard continued, “Printing is what we do as a product, but we also help customers with marketing, media consulting, and other ideas to get their message to their customers. It is not just getting the specs for a job, getting a price, putting it on the press and sending it out. That has become nearly standard. It is all of the other things we do on the outside – the ancillary services. They have become more of a driving force in the success of our business.”

And, being located in South Dakota is part of the reason for that success. “There were a a lot of advantages to starting Midstates in South Dakota. There is available labor, a great work ethic and a centralized geographic location,” said Burgard. “Since most of what we print is distributed by mail, being an equal distance to almost any place in the country is very advantageous.” “South Dakota is just a solid place to do business.

We have quality people, the technology is here, and we are able to compete while serving customers all over the country,” Burgard said.
