South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development

South Dakota is CNBC's No. 1 State for Business, but that isn't the only reason to consider locating here. You will also find unsurpassed beauty and a business climate like no other. In South Dakota, we are small - and we consider that an asset. You will find communities that work together, researchers that share information, and a collaborative spirit you simply don't find in larger states.

I'm Pat Costello, Commissioner at the South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development. South Dakota is CNBC's Best State for Business. We earned this distinction because of our best-in-nation business and tax climate, skilled and educated workforce and various quality of life considerations. We want you and your clients to discover South Dakota just as the team from CNBC did this past year.

That’s why, going forward, we’ll be sending quarterly communications to our network of site selection professionals. We want to keep you informed on large project announcements, new economic development tools and incentives in South Dakota. The Governor’s Office of Economic Development is standing at the ready to assist you and your clients with information about doing business in South Dakota.

In the meantime, please visit www.sdreadytowork.com. If you should have any specific questions, please feel free to contact Steve Watson, Business and Community Development Director, at steve.watson@state.sd.us, or 605-367-4518.
