ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Aberdeen Development Corporation (ADC) celebrated 60 years in business at its annual banquet today with Lt. Gov. Matt Michels serving as the keynote speaker. Topping off the celebration, Lt. Gov. Michels presented ADC officials with a certificate for the East Business Park in Aberdeen, which the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) approved as the 25th South Dakota Certified Ready Site.
The Lt. Governor commended Aberdeen for its pro-active approach to economic development. “The development of this certified ready park is just one more tool Aberdeen can use in attracting quality companies to the area,” Lt. Gov. Michels said. “The state is seeing increased interest from businesses in having certified ready sites, so I encourage other communities to take a closer look at this program, as well.”
“The Aberdeen Development Corporation is excited about the Certified Ready Site approval. This shows those within the trade area and those businesses that are searching for a location that we have sites ready with land to develop on. Furthermore, this designation shows the continued forward minded approach of the ADC to continue the promotion of Aberdeen and Brown County as a premier location to do business in,” said ADC CEO Mike Bockorny.
The South Dakota Certified Ready Sites program is an economic development tool available to all counties, cities, townships, planning districts, business improvement districts and developers.
The South Dakota Certified Ready Sites program is operated under the supervision of the GOED for the purpose of providing consistent information on sites available throughout the state.
