CenturyLink announced plans to expand its dispatch center in Sioux Falls. The city was also named one of the Best Places to Find a Job.

 

Keynote Speaker Announced

Seth Mattison, an internationally renowned expert on workforce trends and generational dynamics, has been selected as keynote speaker at the 2015 Governor's Economic Development Conference.

Mattison's keynote speech will focus on retaining and attracting new workforce, and he will also run a breakout session on social media.

As founder and CEO of Futuresight Labs and Strategic Partner at BridgeWorks, LLC, Seth advises many of the world’s leading corporations on the future of work. His ideas have been featured in such publications as the Wall St. Journal, the Huffington Post, and the Globe and Mail.

Other session topics at the conference include a Q&A with the business development team, career pathways and workforce training.

The conference is April 15 in Sioux Falls.

Mackenzie Decker Eric Fosheim

Mackenzie Decker and Eric Fosheim have recently joined the GOED staff.

Decker started in December as Web and Digital Marketing Coordinator in the GOED's marketing and public relations division.

Fosheim began duties as a Business Development Representative earlier this month. Fosheim will cover Region 2, which includes Marshall, Day, Clark Roberts, Grant, Codington, Hamlin, Deusel, Kingsbury and Brookings counties.

The Census Bureau has always been THE resource for a good chunk of the data economic developers utilize. However, getting at the data can be tricky. Digging through the Census Bureau’s website can be a bit of a treasure hunt or an act of torture depending on which end of the spectrum you fall.
