The South Dakota Certified Ready Sites Program is an economic development tool available to all counties, cities, townships, planning districts, business improvement districts and economic development groups.
“The presence of a Certified Ready Site in Huron will allow prospective buyers to have well-packaged information that will make it easier to select and develop a site in the West Industrial Park,” said Costello. “I would like to congratulate the Greater Huron Development Corporation on applying and successfully procuring a South Dakota Certified Ready Site.”
The program launched in 2012 and has semi-annual application deadlines for May 1 and Nov. 1. The November deadline was the first time that economic development groups were eligible to apply.
“We are always working to spur economic development in the Huron area and were excited to apply when economic development groups became eligible applicants,” said Jim Borszich, President and CEO, Greater Huron Development Corporation. “The presence of a Certified Ready Site will make it easier for us to encourage companies to choose Huron.”
Located at the intersection of West Park Avenue and Center Street Southwest, the West Industrial Park covers 61 acres and is certified and zoned heavy industry.
The South Dakota Certified Ready Sites Program is operated under the supervision of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) for the purpose of providing consistent information on sites available throughout the state.
