CORBON Opens Law Enforcement Training Center in Sturgis

Thursday, June 23, 2011
STURGIS, S.D. – Law enforcement, military personnel, and firearm enthusiasts now have a world-class training facility available to them in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

CORBON Ammunition officially opened the CORBON Law Enforcement Training Center (CLETC) in Sturgis today. The facility is a state-of-the-art firearm training center. Unlike any other facility in the Midwest, CLETC is a 68-acre complex complete with a classroom and outdoor pistol, tactical rifle, precision rifle, and tactical shotgun ranges.

The South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development helped facilitate the CLETC project.

“CORBON has long been a leader in the firearms industry, helping us develop a cluster of nearly 50 firearm companies in South Dakota,” said Gov. Dennis Daugaard. “This training center once again points to CORBON’s leadership in the industry and helps further establish South Dakota as a premier location for firearm companies.”

The facility is available for military, law enforcement, and civilian firearms training, and boasts National Rifle Association (NRA) certified courses, nationally acclaimed instructors and certified staff.

Peter Pi, President and CEO of CORBON Ammunition and a 25-year law enforcement veteran, says that he and his family established the CLETC to ensure professional training is available to law enforcement and military personnel.

“As a current law enforcement officer and NRA Certified Law Enforcement Instructor, I know how crucial it is for officers to receive state-of-the-art training to help them protect the public and themselves,” said Pi. “There’s a shortage of firearm training centers in the upper Midwest. I’m hoping this facility will help fill that training opportunity gap.”

At full capacity, CLETC can train up to 40 students per class. Dozens of law enforcement officers, military personnel and private citizens are already scheduled to train at CLETC.

CORBON Ammunition is an American family-owned business that’s been in operation for nearly 30 years. CORBON is headquartered in Sturgis and currently employs 35 people.
