'Proud to Call SD Home'

Nutraferma is a biotechnology company that processes soy and other plant materials into high-quality animal feed ingredients for poultry, pork and aquaculture producers. The processing method used at Nutraferma’s South Dakota facility is the only of its kind in North America and preserves metabolites that traditional manufacturing processes wash away.

And that has resulted in products that create profit. Vegetable-based proteins offer cost savings, increased animal performance, greater availability and more consistency for producers.

Making Transfers More Comfortable, Efficient

Sioux Falls-based CEGA Innovations is making bed-to-bed transfers less straining for both healthcare providers and patients with the MuV System. The
product is a board that uses a low-friction deck and elevated roller system and incorporates a clean, single-use sheet to provide a more comfortable environment and increased efficiency.

The MuV System was created in, went through clinical trials in, and is being partially manufactured in South Dakota.

Producing Human Antibodies

While antibody therapeutics have a worldwide market
of more than $60 million per year, SAB Biotheraputics has a unique system where animals are producing fully human antibodies from the entire human antibody
germ line sequence, making them more diverse than any other transgenic animal system – and it is all happening in South Dakota.

Conducting Clinical Trials

Using light-activated materials may help the nearly 12 million people that suffer from Peripheral Vascular Disease find treatment – that is, after clinical trials in South Dakota wrap up.

Alumend, a medical device company, is part of the Avera Research Institute and is operating as its Applied Research Division in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The company hopes that its research will be fully realized and validated and bring long-term solutions to PVD patients at a lower cost.
